Swim by Jennifer Weiner
Ruth Saunders helps seniors get into college. FOr a $5k fee she will get them ready for an interview, coach them on what to do, wear and discuss.
She and her grandmother had moved from MA to LA several years ago. She looses herself in the pool that she pays for. The car accident that killed her parents left her with a scar on her face, a big crater.
Rob meets her at the local coffee shop where she always gets there early to get a seat near the outlet for her computer. He wants her to help him set up a dating service where her job will be with the words others use to describe themselves.
Her swimming is her way of dealing with things as her world grows. She realizes after meeting Charlie that she was wrong about the girl she was being paid to help.
There are two chapters at the end of 'The Next Best Thing' by the same author. Very mature adult scenes.
I did read the next book in this series-this is a pre novella.
